Our Gracious and merciful, hear our prayer, O’ Lord, for our hearts are heavy as we lift up the men and women of the Hartford Police Department and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Dept. in this tragic traffic fatality of their friend and co-worker, Officer Robert “Bobby” Garten and Deputy Auston Smith Reudelhuber. At times like this Lord, it is only YOU to whom we can turn for comfort. May Your unfailing love sweetly settle upon Officer Garten’s family and Deputy Auston Smith Reudelhuber’s family who are deeply mourning this horrific loss. As a second officer is in serious condition, may You continue to place the correct medical specialists in his path and bring about a full recovery. Lord, in the midst of this most difficult time for the family, friends and co-workers of both peacemakers, may Your presence, comfort and amazing grace be made evident in their hearts and minds. Lord, we ask for Your Arms of Love and Mercy to tightly hold the entire family, friends and the many co-workers of Officer Garten and Deputy Reudelhuber ever so close to Your side. Even in the middle of this tragedy, may You bring about good to everyone. May You grant the investigators wisdom to piece together the details and facts from these collisions. As the Hartford Police Department and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Dept. must now begin the difficult process to prepare to say a final farewell to Officer Garten and Deputy Reudelhuber, may You use this time to draw many co-workers and others ever so close to the Cross of Christ. May Your Holy Spirit, even now, begin to touch the hearts of so many. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian law enforcement officers to minister to those hurting in their hearts. And so Lord, may the God of Hope fill every officer, friend and family member with all Joy and Peace because of the everlasting gift of eternal life found only in Your Son. May Your word as follows bring comfort to many, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever, Amen“. And, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
