O’ Lord, we come before Your Throne of Grace as we are so grateful for Your wonderful mercies to have been upon this wounded deputy and are so thankful that You spared his/her life. As the news reports this deputy’s condition is not known, we ask you to continue to grant the doctor’s wisdom and insight to accurately diagnose and treat his/her wounds and restore him/her to full health. We, therefore, lift up this deputy before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your loving arms around him/her as he/she recovers from this near-death experience. May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain this deputy and may this deputy be drawn ever close to Your side for the continuing comfort of Your Holy Spirit. May Your mercy, grace, love and everlasting comfort especially settle upon the family of this deputy as they, too, endured the near loss of their loved one. May Your grace additionally touch every member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as they rally around to support their wounded co-worker and family. As the suspect was also wounded after being shot by law enforcement, may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to gather the facts surrounding this encounter. Lord, may You use this life-threatening incidents as a reminder and training aid to law enforcement officers across America to continue to be vigilant in everything they do. May every San Bernardino County law enforcement officer know Your word says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” And, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Lastly Lord, if there are any law enforcement officers who are struggling to emotionally or spiritually make sense of this attack upon one of Your peacemakers, may they know that You ordained their job as a peacemaker to protect and serve their community wherever they may be. May many law enforcement officers come to recognize their need to draw near to You for You will then draw near to them. May they know that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Finally, may many come to receive Your forgiveness and receive Your Son as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
