O’ Merciful Lord, we, again, come boldly into your Presence to lift up Officer Bruce Foster into Your loving arms. As the news reports he was initially in critical condition and taken to a trauma center where he underwent surgery, we seek Your presence, grace and healing power to continue to settle upon him right now. O’ Lord, You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and our ever-present help in times of trouble, and we, therefore, earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to thank you that he is now is stable condition. As he is being treated at a hospital, may You continue to provide the needed medical specialists and doctors to diagnose his wounds and apply the correct treatment and medications to save this peacemaker. As we know the family of Officer Foster is at his and are deeply concerned and emotionally affected, we seek Your amazing grace to sustain them through this very difficult time of uncertainty. May they know Your word says, “"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of the men and women of the Virginia State University Police as they rally to support their wounded colleague. Continue to pour out Your wisdom on the medical staff to save the life of Your wounded servant. As the suspect in this incident escaped, may You grant the investigators with wisdom and insight to be able to locate and arrest this suspect. May You raise up citizens and others to report the location of this suspect. And if he tries to harm any other peace officers, may You cause his weapon to malfunction. O’ Lord, may You cause the suspect to be unable to sleep or rest and may he be emotionally challenged to surrender. May You supernaturally protect every officer on and off duty and may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this tragic attack. May Your words as follows speak to the hearts of so many, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ; and “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” So Lord, raise up chaplains and other Christian officers to bring comfort to all. Again, Lord, may this suspect be captured. May many know and intimately experience grace and mercy. O’ Lord, spare the life of Your servant, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
