Our Merciful Lord, this week has been especially difficult for peace officers and firefighters across America. We, again, come boldly before Your Throne of Grace to lift up the men and women of the Burnsville Police and Fire Department as they are in deep mourning at the loss of Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth. We first come boldly into Your Presence, Lord, to lift up seriously wounded Chester Police Detective Steve Byrne who suffered a serious chest wound trying to apprehend a homicide suspect. We are grateful to You Lord for sparing his life. As he is being treated at a trauma hospital, may You grant the doctors with supernatural wisdom to treat and restore this officer to full health. As the families of the fallen Burnsville Police officers and firefighter have been deeply affected, may Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort and most of all the presence of Your Holy Spirit be with them as You carry them through this dark valley. May they know Your word says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” So Lord, surround the men and women of the Burnsville Police Department with Your Protecting Arms as they mourn the loss of three of their colleagues. May they all be drawn unto the love of Your Son and may every law enforcement officer and firefighter know that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. O’ Lord, place a thirst for Your Son in the hearts of every law enforcement officer, firefighter and citizen in Minnesota, Pennsylvania and across America. May they intimately know Your word says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” As this incident is being investigated, grant the investigators wisdom and insight to gather all of the facts and prevent any future incidents like these. We are also so thankful for the perseverance of so many peace officers in Minnesota who had to witness this tragedy up close. We are thankful the suspects in Burnsville and Chester will no longer be a threat. May Your amazing grace and love be poured out upon those grieving and mourning. May amazing grace deeply ring true in the hearts of the family of each fallen First Responder as we know this loss has deeply affected countless law enforcement officers in and around Minnesota. May Your Amazing Grace, presence and comfort touch their hearts and prevent them from enduring any long-term emotional trauma. In the coming days as the men and women of the Burnsville Police and Fire Department begin the task to prepare a final farewell for their fallen co-workers, may You raise up Godly officers, firefighters, chaplains and others to be a Light to those in need. May Your Holy Spirit touch the hearts of many whose hearts are empty and are searching for truth. May many know You told us that You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
