Our Merciful Lord, our hearts are broken as we join with our fellow servants in the Pikeville Fire Department and the Lexington Fire Department (and fellow firefighters across America) as they are mourning this tragic loss of Pikeville Firefighter Inspector Robert Lindsey and Lexington Firefighter Captain Ronnie Metcalf both fatally injured on-duty. O’ Lord, as we know the pain is ever so great for these two families, we come boldly before Your Throne of Grace and lift them into Your Arms of Love. May the power of Your Holy Spirit fill them with love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and most of all Your presence to carry them through this very difficult time of loss. May You grant the investigators wisdom to determine all of the facts surrounding both incidents. May the men and women of the Pikeville Fire Department and the Lexington Fire Department be drawn ever so close to Your Side Lord to intimately know Your Word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. So Lord, as this loss has affected so many in the firefighting community in Kentucky, North Carolina and across America, may many be drawn ever so close to Your Side to intimately know Your peace that passes all understanding. May those who have been so emotionally and spiritually affected at this tragic loss know You said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”, and “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” Lord, we are so thankful for these firefighters and every other firefighter across America who willingly place their lives on the line every day to protect the lives of others. Lastly, as the Pikeville Fire Department and the Lexington Fire Department must now begin the task to prepare a final farewell for their fallen comrades, may You use this final service to encourage countless broken hearts. May You raise up Godly men, women, chaplains and Godly firefighters to share the love of Jesus to many who are hurting so deeply. May many come to know Your Son in a real and personal way, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
