Our Father in Heaven, We come into Your Presence, Lord, to lift up a wounded Lincoln Park Police Officer before Your throne of Grace and place him into Your loving care. We are thankful that his life was spared and that his wound is not considered life threatening. Therefore, Lord, we ask you to continue to guide the hands of the doctors to be able to render the correct treatment and bring about a full recovery. May this wounded officer intimately know Your love, grace, peace, mercy and Presence carry him through this life-threatening encounter in which the suspect was also wounded and taken into custody. May the family of this wounded officer intimately sense Your grace and mercies carrying them through this near-death encounter of their loved one this Thanksgiving week. We also want to lift up all of the Lincoln Park officers and first responders who responded to that scene. May your grace, peace, mercies and comfort settle upon them and may your wounded peacemaker and every other officer and first responder be drawn to You where they can experience Your abundant peace. May Your grace touch the many other officers with the Lincoln Park Police Department as we know incidents like these can also affect their co-workers as well. May You grant the investigators wisdom to gather the facts surrounding this incident. And for any officer directly involved in this incident who may have been deeply affected emotionally, may they intimately know they can always cast theirs cares upon you for we know You care for them. May you prevent them from experiencing any short-term or long-term emotional trauma. May Your grace touch the hearts and minds of the families of these law enforcement officer who were involved in this dangerous incident and may Your love reign supreme. May Your word encourage many as follows, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” And, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” May You draw any officer who was involved in this incident close to Your side and may many come to know You as their Savior and Lord. May many officers know Your Word says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
