Our Gracious Lord, our hearts are deeply broken as we join with the men and women of the Irondale Police Department as they mourn this tragic loss of Lt. Mark Meadows from an on-duty collision. As countless Law enforcement officers across America regularly place themselves in harm’s way every day just like Lt. Meadows, may Your grace and protection surround every officer at all times. Lord, we ask for Your grace, peace, mercy, Presence and comfort to be with Lt. Meadows’s family as they cope with this tragic loss just after this holiday season. We know the pain is ever so great in their hearts. May Your mercies also and touch close-knit Irondale Police Department and sustain them with Your presence and comfort as they cope with this loss of their young dear friend and co-worker. May Your grace, comfort and peace be with the many firefighters and other law enforcement officers who assisted in trying to save Lt. Meadows. May Your grace also touch the many paramedics, firefighters and other first responders who assisted in this highly emotional scene and draw them close to Your heart. Finally, may Your grace and comfort touch the countless medical staff who worked so feverishly to try to save the life of Lt. Meadows. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to effectively investigate this collision. And as the Irondale Police Department must now prepare a final farewell to Lt. Meadows, may You use this service to point many to Jesus Christ. May these words ring true in the hearts of many, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” At this final farewell service for Lt. Meadows, may many hear the good news about Jesus and know that, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” May those mourning be comforted by Your presence and may many be drawn to the love of Your Son, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
