Our merciful Lord, as we come in great earnest before Your Throne of Grace, our hearts are broken and spirits heavy as we grieve and mourn with the men and women of the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and the Kootenai County Fire Department in this tragic on-duty murder of one of two firefighters. May the family of Your fallen servants intimately experience Your Presence and amazing grace carrying them through this horrific and sudden loss. May Your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and presence be supernaturally revealed to the heart of every firefighter with the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and the Kootenai County Fire Department as we know they are deeply heartbroken. May Your word as follow bring spiritual strength to those in need: “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” And, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” As the we know they are grieving at this senseless loss, may they know You said, “Peace I leave You, my peace I give you.” O’ Lord, grant them peace in the middle of this storm. May Your amazing grace and presence surround the men and women of the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and the Kootenai County Fire Department and encourage their hearts. Grant the investigators wisdom to gather the facts in this difficult scene. Lord, we lift up firefighters across America as they are frequently vulnerable and in harm’s way without protection. May Your grace and peace touch the hearts of firefighters everywhere and sustain with Your Arms of love. And in the coming days as they begin to make preparations for a final farewell, may You use that service to point many unto the love of Your Son, Jesus, in whom there is everlasting life. May Many know that as a result of this tragic loss, that, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
