Our gracious and merciful Lord, our hearts are broken as we mourn with the men and women of the Citronelle Police Department in this tragic loss of one of Officer Chase Owen amd for the Morrill Fire Department in the on-duty fatality of Firefighter Andrew Cross. O’ Lord, we come into Your Presence on behalf of the entire Citronelle Police Department and Morrill Fire Department to seek Your mercy and grace to settle upon them as they cope with this difficult loss of a dear friend and co-worker. We especially lift the entire family of this fallen officer and firefighter and ask You to wrap Your arms of loving kindness around them as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to be able to gather the facts surrounding these incidents. Lord, as there are countless other officers and firefighters protecting htheir community across America and the world, may You continually protect surround them with Your Protecting Arms at all times. May Your grace, comfort, presence and mercies touch the many paramedics, firefighters and medical personnel who were involved in trying to save these servants. As we know traumatic events like this can cause emotional trauma to surface for many officers, firefighters and first responders, may Your grace preserve every person’s heart and mind in Your love and mercy. As there are many who have been deeply affected by these losses, may they know Your word says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” And, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” So, Lord, may those grieving ever so greatly know they can always cast their cares upon You for You care for them. May You bring about good through these tragedies. And as the men and women of Citronelle Police Department and Morrill Fire Department will now be making preparations for a final farewell for their fallen comrade in the days ahead, may many hear the good news for the first time, and may many receive Your Son into their hearts as their Savior and Lord. May anyone who may have strayed from Your path, be drawn back to Your side. May You raise up Godly officers, firefighters and chaplains to be a representative of Your love and mercy. Finally, may You turn this loss of a dear friend and co-worker into a time of remembrance and Joy, in the name of Jesus we Pray, Amen.
