Our King of kings, we are so thankful unto You for Your amazing grace to have settled upon these two wounded Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy of which one is in serious condition. We are so thankful to You, Lord, for sparing their lives. So, Lord, we come boldly into Your Presence to seek Your mercies upon Deputy Constable Dante Zepeda and lift him into Your Arms of Grace. As he is being treated at a local trauma center, we ask You to place Your healing hands upon him. May You fill the medical staff at this hospital with supernatural wisdom to guide them in identifying his wounds and then apply the correct remedy to bring about a full recovery. May you fill every medical doctor and nurse with Your Holy Spirit. As the second deputy has been treated and released from a hospital, may Your amazing grace be poured out his mind and spirit as he reflects on this near-death encounter. O’ Lord, we are thankful to You that the position of a peace officer is a job created and ordained by You, for Your word says, “The policeman is sent by God to help you.” And Lord, we are so thankful for the thousands upon thousands of law enforcement officers across the U.S. and the world who regularly place themselves in harm’s way. As we know the many men and women of the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and other allied agencies are deeply concerned for the welfare of their wounded comrade, may Your grace, mercy and comfort uphold them as You carry them through this emotional time. We are so thankful the suspect was arrested and ask You to grant the investigators wisdom to investigate this incident. And as the family members of Deputy Zepeda are at the hospital supporting their loved one, we ask You to wrap Your arms of love around each of them and draw them unto Your side. Hold them ever so tightly, Lord. May Your Holy Spirit touch the heart, mind and body and this wounded deputy and may he sense Your Presence carrying him through this ordeal. And if this he does not know the love of your Son in whom there is everlasting life and forgiveness of sin, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly deputies to share Your love. May Your Holy Spirit come along side every member of the Harris County Sheriff’s Department as we know they have been deeply emotionally and spiritually affected. O’ Lord, may You raise up Godly deputies and chaplains to be a representative of Your Light to those with hurting hearts. May Your amazing grace also touch the other deputies who were present when their co-workers were wounded. May these words bring comfort to many, “Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” And, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
