Our Gracious and merciful, hear our prayer, O’ Lord, for our hearts are heavy as we lift up the men and women of the Marked Tree Police Department in the on-duty fatality of Officer Trevor Howard and for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Dept. in the on-duty fatality of Deputy Erika Serrato. We, first, come before Your Throne of Grace to lift up Officer Anthony Johnson who was injured in Tennessee and a second deputy who was also injured in Texas. As these peace officers are being treated, may You grant the medical personnel wisdom to identify their injuries and apply the correct medical treatment. At times like this Lord, it is only YOU to whom we can turn for comfort. May Your unfailing love sweetly settle upon Officer Howard’s family and Deputy Serrato’s family who are deeply mourning this horrific loss. Lord, in the midst of this most difficult time for the family, friends and co-workers of both fallen peacemakers, may Your presence, comfort and amazing grace be made evident in their hearts and minds. Lord, we ask for Your Arms of Love and Mercy to tightly hold the entire family, friends and the many co-workers of Officer Howard and Deputy Serrato ever so close to Your side. Even in the middle of this tragedy, may You bring about good to everyone. May You grant the investigators wisdom to piece together the details and facts from these collisions. As the Marked Tree Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Dept. must now begin the difficult process to prepare to say a final farewell to their fallen comrades, may You use this time to draw many co-workers and others ever so close to the Cross of Christ. May Your Holy Spirit, even now, begin to touch the hearts of so many. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian law enforcement officers to minister to those hurting in their hearts. And so Lord, may You, the God of Hope, fill every officer, friend and family member with all Joy and Peace because of the everlasting gift of eternal life found only in Your Son. May Your word as follows bring comfort to many, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever, Amen“. And, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen
